Conrad is a European platform specialising in the procurement of technology, electronics and technical supplies for businesses. Conrad Marketplace is a curated B2B marketplace where selected manufacturers and distributors can sell directly to professional customers. In Italy, Conrad reports more than 80,000 professional customers, ranging from sole traders to international companies. The Italian Marketplace is reserved for registered business customers.

Key Features and Services

Conrad operates as a curated B2B marketplace: seller admission is subject to an assessment of the company and its proposed product range. Once approved, sellers retain control over their product offering and commercial terms, while Conrad provides the sales infrastructure, reporting tools and dedicated support. The sales contract is concluded directly between the seller and the business customer, with Conrad acting as an intermediary.

Several integration methods are available for catalogue management, including back-office tools, CSV files, Excel templates, APIs and third-party integration providers. Sellers can also access analytics tools to monitor sales, revenue, product views, pricing and operational KPIs such as shipping times and response times to customer enquiries. Eligible sellers may also access e-procurement and OCI solutions designed for large corporate customers.

Revenue

Conrad does not publish a specific 2025/2026 revenue figure for its Marketplace. The Conrad Group reports annual revenue exceeding €1 billion. This figure refers to the Group as a whole and should therefore not be interpreted as the revenue generated specifically through Marketplace transactions.

Conrad has progressively shifted its business model towards B2B and the platform economy. Its marketplace for professional customers was initially launched in Germany in 2017 and subsequently expanded to additional European markets.

Permitted Products

The Marketplace is primarily focused on technical products and supplies for businesses. Relevant categories include electronic components, test and measurement equipment, power supplies, connectors and cables, IT and networking products, tools, automation solutions, multimedia equipment, educational and development kits, and other technical products for industrial and professional applications.

Sellers are required to provide complete product information, including category, title, brand, model, manufacturer part number, images and descriptions, as well as any mandatory information applicable to the relevant product category.

Products must comply with applicable regulations concerning safety, product information and Extended Producer Responsibility. Depending on the category and destination market, requirements may include energy-efficiency information, safety warnings, REACH/RoHS compliance, WEEE obligations and other country-specific regulatory requirements.

Products subject to age restrictions, content glorifying violence, war toys, weapons and related products are not permitted.

Accessibility for Italian Companies

Italian companies can directly apply to sell on the Italian Marketplace. Conrad requires sellers to have business operations and logistics in Italy, a warehouse located in Italy and an Italian VAT number. Companies must also be able to fulfil orders for individual items and have previous e-commerce experience.

Admission is not automatic. Applicants are required to provide information about their company and product range, which is assessed by Conrad before the onboarding process begins.

Registration also requires corporate and administrative documentation, including company details, VAT information, Chamber of Commerce registration, terms and conditions of sale and documentation relating to the legal representative.

Once the application and documentation have been approved, sellers can upload their product catalogue and begin selling. Conrad is therefore particularly suitable for Italian companies already operating in the technical or industrial B2B sector with an established e-commerce and logistics infrastructure.

Countries and Markets

Conrad currently operates B2B marketplaces in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy and France.

For Italian companies, it is important to distinguish between selling on Conrad Italy and expanding internationally through Conrad's cross-border programme. Registration on the Italian Marketplace does not automatically make products available in all other Conrad markets.

International expansion is available to qualified sellers and is subject to specific performance, logistics and customer-service requirements. Sellers must demonstrate reliable delivery performance and generally fulfil orders through their own warehouse or a cross-docking model.

Companies selling internationally must also comply with the tax, environmental and product-related regulations applicable in each destination market, including relevant packaging, WEEE and Extended Producer Responsibility requirements.

Costs and Commissions

The standard commercial terms published by Conrad include:

  • Monthly subscription fee: €99, excluding VAT
  • Sales commission: between 5% and 15%, excluding VAT, depending on the product category

The commission is charged on transactions completed through the Marketplace, with the applicable rate determined by the relevant product category.

For international expansion through Conrad's cross-border programme, the platform indicates the availability of a three-month free trial period and flexible contractual conditions. A standard public fee for each additional country is not currently specified, so companies should request updated commercial terms directly from Conrad before activating additional markets.

Payment Systems

For orders placed through the Italian Marketplace, business customers can currently pay by invoice or by advance payment.

Payment processing is managed through Conrad's payment service provider, which handles the collection of customer payments and subsequent payouts to sellers.

Seller settlements are generally processed three times per month, on the 10th, 20th and last day of the month, subject to the applicable payment conditions.

Customer invoices are generated in the seller's name through the payment provider's system, while the seller remains responsible for the relevant tax and accounting obligations.

Advertising

Conrad offers sellers optional marketing and advertising solutions designed to increase brand and product visibility.

Available opportunities may include B2B newsletters, banners, promotional landing pages, enhanced visibility in search results, sponsored products and Brand Shops. Standard and customised marketing packages may be available depending on the seller's objectives and target audience.

Advertising activities are not managed exclusively through a fully self-service advertising platform. Sellers can work with Conrad representatives to identify and plan the most appropriate promotional activities.

Logistics Services

Marketplace logistics are primarily managed directly by the seller. Products listed by Marketplace sellers are stored, prepared and shipped from the seller's own logistics facilities.

Sellers are responsible for managing stock availability, order preparation, shipping, delivery performance and shipment tracking. Shipping methods and costs can be configured according to the seller's commercial and logistical arrangements.

Tracking information must be provided for orders so that customers can monitor their deliveries.

For international cross-border sales, Conrad requires reliable fulfilment and generally supports direct shipping from the seller's own warehouse or through a cross-docking model. Conrad does not currently present a standard fulfilment service for Marketplace sellers comparable to solutions where the marketplace manages inventory, picking, packing and delivery on behalf of the seller.

Customer and Seller Support

Sellers are responsible for the operational management of customer relationships relating to Marketplace orders. Communications concerning orders, deliveries, complaints and product issues are handled through the Marketplace's order-related messaging system.

In the event of a complaint, the seller is expected to communicate directly with the customer and resolve the issue through the platform.

Conrad also provides sellers with onboarding assistance, dedicated support and reporting and analytics tools. Sellers can monitor commissions, sales, pricing, revenue, product views and service-quality KPIs.

For cross-border activities, additional support and performance-monitoring tools may be available to help sellers manage their international operations.

As Conrad Marketplace is B2B-focused, professional purchases are not generally subject to the same statutory withdrawal rights that apply to consumers. Sellers may nevertheless offer more favourable return conditions within their own terms and conditions.
